In 2011, the NSWPRL were in camp on the Gold Coast about to take on the QLD Police as a curtain raiser to State of Origin 2 at Suncrop Stadium Brisbane. We contacted John Sattler and asked him if he would like to present the NSW jumpers to our team. Satts couldn’t say yes quick enough and met us at Mario’s Restaurant Broadbeach. He gave an emotional speech about what an honour it is to represent your state at any level and how much it means to wear the blue jumper. All our squad were surprised how humble and decent Johnny Sattler was. We went on to win the game and I think a bit of he Johnny Sattler spirit was with us all that night at Suncorp.
