Congratulations to Bobby O’Riordan and Stephen Wilson who were both deservedly inducted as Life Members to the NSW Police Rugby League.
Bobby was an accomplished rugby league player and played for Sydney District in the 90’s for many years before transitioning as a trainer with Cronulla, Manly, City, NSW and Australia police teams. Bob was one of the trainers on the successful Rugby League World Cup Australian Police team, which were victorious at Headingley England in 2013. He has been a trainer on many of the NSW campaigns. A great bloke and well deserved.
Stephen has been involved with the NSWPRL for many years, initially as a touch judge whilst still at school in 1995. He continued to referee for a number of years with his mentor Doug Keen before joining the NSW Police Force.
Stephen continued to referee in the NSWPRL competition before becoming involved with the Manly PRL club as a trainer and a NSWPRL committee member He has also been selected as a NSWPRL and Australian PRL trainer. Stephen wants to shout out to Alex ‘The Jet’ Ramsay, Rod Sheraton, Craig Sheridan, Paul Quigg and Peter Nellies for being supportive to him from a young age. Stephen’s involvement encompasses 25 years involvement with the NSWPRL and he has made a significant contribution as a referee, trainer and committee man.
Congratulations to both men, well deserved.
Steve was instrumental as one of the main organisers of the Ohana Cup played in the Aloha stadium Honolulu Hawaii.
