NSW Police defeat the Great Britain Police

The NSW Police Rugby League team hosted the touring Great Britain Police team at the 8th wonder of the world Leichhardt oval on Wednesday 6 March 2024.

The NSW team who had toured England and France in September 2023, met the British touring side who were keen to make amends of their defeat at St. Helens late last year.

Led by the front by captain Dane Clarke, his brother Jackson, and go forward front rowers, Rhys Schreuder and Joel Patterson, the strong NSW pack also containing Hayden Ashcroft and will-o’-the-wisp Matt Johnstone, laid the foundation for the speedy backs to out maneuver their clever British adversary’s.

Tyler Field and Reece Chappell laid on beautiful passes to Matheson Johns, Haydn Peacock, Dylan Wagner and Mr. reliable Callum Blinko. Debutantes Max Batty and Jeff Swann. The bench players, Jack Davey, smart footballer Rhys Fagerlund, James Woolmingon and Connor Stork kept the momentum going when they came on and it is a credit to the tightness of this great group of young men.

NSW ran out convincing winners 50 points to 8, but the game was a tough encounter and the tourists defended hard, making the game a great spectacle for the excited crowd.

NSW – tries Matt Johnstone x 3, Tyler Field x 2, Dane Clarke, Callum Blinco, Matheson Johns and Haydn Peacock. Goals Tyler Field 7 goals.

Great Britain – tries Mick Ostick x 2

NSWPRL thank the touring side for a great test match and wish them safe travels back to England.

We wish our brother Dylan Wagner all the best as he played his last game for the NSWPRL taking up a job with the NSW Fire Brigade.
