The Sydney Roosters hosted the first ever emergency services game at Allianz Stadium on 1 September 2024.
Played as a curtain raiser before the Sydney Roosters v Canberra Raiders game, all emergency and volunteer agencies were honoured by the Sydney Roosters and NRL in general.
Hero NSW Police Inspector Amy Scott, presented the game ball to Roosters captain, James Tedesco, after arriving in the middle of the stadium, courtesy of NSW Police Polair helicopter.
NSWPRL life member and team trainer Peter Nissen said, “It is a fantastic honour for all of the emergency services personnel to have a game named after them. The NSWPRL are extremely grateful to the Roosters and the NRL for adopting this concept. The players were thrilled to have the opportunity to play their Fire Brigade counterparts on a big stage”.
The Police and ‘Firies’ game was a tough encounter and both games came well prepared to put on an exhibition.
The Australian Fire Brigade proved too good winning the game 26 points to 22. NSW Tries to Peter Pakoti, Tyler Field, Jack Davey and Dane Clarke. 3 goals to Connor Storck.
Former deputy Commissioner Jeff Loy speaks to the team prior to kickoff.
