Newtown Police team 1983
Newtown centre Peter Nissen, makes a run to the try line during Newtown's convincing win over Campsie Police at Canterbury Bankstown's Belmore sportsground, 34-16. At one point in the game, the Campsie half-back Ray Pye became a little bit upset during a tackle. Nissen caused Pye more grief with some sportsmanship. Later in the game, ex St George player Randall Barge attempted to square up with Nissen who ducked, unfortunately, Newtown winger Chris Lambert caught the full brunt of Randall's attempted enforcement resulting in Chris sustaining a broken nose and a trip to the local Canterbury Hospital. Police rugby league was and still is no place for the coffee connection who haunt the corridors of the NSW Police force.
