Macarthur Bulls 2011

Macarthur Bulls toppled a spirited Manly Police team in the 2011 State Championships at Port Macquarie on Friday the 18th of March. The match kicked off at 6pm at the Panthers Stadium. Due to round three due to be held on Thursday being cancelled due to thunderstorms and unsuitable ground conditions, the tournament was revamped to allow the top side from Group A and B contesting the F.J. Hansen shield. Manly topped the group A table after wins over the Central Coast and the Combined Services team, whilst Macarthur Bulls topped group B after wins over Country South, Easts Wombats and Country North. The Bulls coached by ex NRL Canterbury Bulldog star Mitch Newton and his assistant Greg Colless came back from a four nil deficit, to wear down the strong Manly outfit and claim the trophy with a 16 to 4 victory.
Bulls hooker Robbie Mears was voted player of the carnival and topped of a successful tournament being selected as the NSW Police hooker to take on the Queensland Police at Suncorp Stadium Brisbane on 6 June 2011. This game will be played as a curtain raiser to State of Origin game three.
