The 2010 Premiers started their 2011 campaign with a hard fought 20-12 win over a determined Country North Cowboys. Led by veteran NSW representative forward Matt Lehmann, the Wombats missed regular halfback Ryan Good, but were well served by Marty Hyde who mustered the large forward pack to continually pressure the Cowboys. Smart hooker Nick Ryan relished putting runners through the gaps around the rucks and was rewarded with fellow wombats, Nick Hyde, Marc Smith, Mitch West and Adam Munday in gaining selection in the NSW team to take on the Queensland Police in July.
